The first Motorcycle was built in 1868 by Sylvester Howard Roper. It was made with a steam engine. It did not have a lot of support but some of the features stayed, like the twisting hand held throttle control. The first gas engine Motorcycle came in 1885 the Daimler Reitwagen. The next two companies Triumph and Harley Davidson came out in 1902 and 1903. We had to wait another 44 to 53 years for the other companies to arrive on the scene. From 1945 to 1985 things kept up for these companies. Then sales started to crash. Why? The buyers of Motorcycles needed to start families. Well, this only took a little while about 10 years for all the dust to settle and kids to grow up. Now the Kids and the parents wanted to ride again. New models came out for the older generation with more comfort. The new drivers got extra light weight sport bikes. It was back to boom time again. Now Motorcycles are coming out with a smoother ride and better gas milage and electrical Motorcycles.
